Case Discussion On Anxiety: 500 WORDS

A 25-year-old male presents to your clinic because he is having difficulty his new job. He works at a consulting firm. He states it is hard for him to give presentations due to concerns that he will embarrass himself and his peers will think less of him. To avoid being put on the spot, he has passed up multiple lead roles and potential promotion as a result. He says this is frustrating because he doesn’t have an issue interacting with peers in small groups or friends and in no work settings.

  • Summarize the clinical case.
  • Create a list of the patient’s problems and prioritize them.
  • Which diagnosis should be considered
  • What is your rationale for the diagnosis
  • What differential diagnosis should be considered
  • What test or screening tools should be considered to help identify the correct diagnosis
  • What treatment would you prescribe and what is the rationale (consider psychopharmacology, diagnostics tests, referrals, psychotherapy, psychoeducation)
  • What standard guidelines would you use to assess or treat this patient

Responses need to address all components of the question, demonstrate critical thinking and analysis and include peer-reviewed journal evidence to support the student’s position.

Submission Instructions

  • Your initial post should be at least 500 words, formatted and cited in current APA style with support from at least 2 evidence-based sources.

Dimension M6 Diss

One of the most important skills a nurse needs is clinical judgment. This is a skill that can be learned. Reflect on your own ability to critically think and the reading for this module.

When see yourself as a nurse and giving care, discuss what qualities and behaviors you possess that make you a person that would have good clinical judgment. What three strategies can you use to develop better clinical judgment? As a nurse, what areas of the nursing process do you think might be more challenging to you given the critical thinking and clinical judgment skills you have now?

Diversity in Health Services

Diversity in Health Services

Diversity often is used in the context of legal requirements as mandated by discrimination and harassment laws, and in the past has referred to “protected classes,” such as gender, race, color and religion. In fact, diversity encompasses all of the potential differences that affect how we interpret and behave, differences that are so commonly encountered that we might fail to understand their power. It is important to take a look at how diversity impacts a growing and changing healthcare industry. Analyze three ways the growing diversity of the healthcare workforce affects the management of a healthcare organization today. How can management can enhance the use if diversity throughout the organization? Use examples in your response that show how this can happen.

Case Study5

Case Study: You are called to a postpartum room and find Michael, a two-hour-old infant, irritable and spitting up copious amounts of formula. You do not know the maternal history, so you advise the mother that you would like to return the baby to the nursery for assessment and monitoring. In the medical record, you focus on the prenatal history and find the mother had an addiction to opioids with her last pregnancy but denied drug use with this pregnancy. You witness the baby having some significant tremors, vital signs: T (axillary) – 36.0, RR- 78, HR- 166, and the infant is alert, irritable, and does not console easily. The infant is constantly moving and sucking vigorously on the pacifier.

  • What do you think is occurring with the infant?
  • What lab test can be ordered to confirm your suspected diagnosis?
  • What interventions can be implemented to treat this infant?

At least 120 words and address all questions. Thank you.

Evidenced Based Practice Projects

Not all Evidenced Based Practice projects result in statistically significant results. Define clinical significance, and explain the difference between clinical and statistical significance. How can you use clinical significance to support positive outcomes in your project?

Mental Health

Module #1:  Evidence-based practice as it relates to population-based nursing combines clinical practice and public health through the use of population health sciences in clinical practice (Heller & Page, 2002). Epidemiology is the science of public health.  In addition, the focus of population-based care is on populations at risk, comparison groups, and demographic factors (Curley & Vitale, 2012).

Discussion Question for Initial Post: Select a population of your interest (I am in the mental health adolescents population) – it can be the patient group you care for in your work setting, or any group of laypeople you’re especially interested in (e.g., school children, low-income seniors). Why is a population health approach needed to promote health and wellness in this population? What are the determinants of their health status? What is the APRN role in improving health and wellness in the population you selected?

CASE STUDY: Family Member with Alzheimer’s disease: Mark and Jacqueline Mark and Jacqueline have been married for 30 years. They have grown children who live in another state. Jacqueline’s mother has moved in with the couple because she has Alzheimer’s disease. Jacqueline is an only child and always promised her mother that she would care for her in her old age. Her mother is unaware of her surroundings and often calls out for her daughter Jackie when Jacqueline is in the room. Jacqueline reassures her mother that she is there to help, but to no avail.

Jacqueline is unable to visit her children on holidays because she must attend to her mother’s daily needs. She is reluctant to visit friends or even go out to a movie because of her mother’s care needs or because she is too tired. Even though she has eliminated most leisure activities with Mark, Jacqueline goes to bed at night with many of her caregiving tasks unfinished. She tries to visit with her mother during the day, but her mother rejects any contact with her daughter. Planning for the upcoming holidays seems impossible to Mark, because of his wife’s inability to focus on anything except her mother’s care.

Jacqueline has difficulty sleeping at night and is unable to discuss plans even a few days in advance. She is unable to visit friends and is reluctant to have friends visit because of the unpredictable behavior of her mother and her need to attend to the daily care.

Reflective Questions:

1. How do you think this situation reflects Jacqueline’s sense of role performance?

2. How do you think that Jacqueline may be contributing to her own health?
